Citrus Tablescape ~ For under $3.00

FINALLY!!!!! It’s done! This tablescape seems to have taken
FOOOORRRRREEEEEEVVVVVVEEEEEEEERRRRR

to put together! ~!LOL!~

I like the simplicity of it.

You know
KISS

Keep it simple silly!

This is probably FRUGALITY at its best

I made the tablerunner with scraps of fabric I already had: 0 dollars

Tin cans covered in washi tape: 0 dollars

Hurricane glass: 0 dollars (got for Christmas present 2 years ago!!)

Apothecary jar and 2 vases: $3 dollars

Paper flowers and skewers: 0 dollars (already had for over a year)

Lantana: 0 dollars (free from my back yard)

Totally delicious Citrus tablescape: PRICELESS!

(yes, even the keylimes were free! Stole Borrowed them from a neighbor’s tree)

As you can see, we have a very DARK kitchen/dining room, so it’s pretty hard to get light-and-airy photos. I’ve played with these on PICMONKEY, so I was able to brighten them up a little bit more.

Oh yes, I'll have a tutorial on how to make the super-duper cheap placemats next week! Possiblities are endless!

Quilted Table Runner ~ Tablescape project #2

Too much! I have WAAAAYYY tooooo much fabric! It's from my days of making clothes for my daughter when she was little, and trying to sell some in one of those fancy-shmancy group boutiques on Ebay! Now I have way too much and need to find ways to use ( repurpose, get-rid-of, whatever term you want to use!) it up!

My last post before Spring Break was I had a theme in mind for my kitchen table. Think CITRUS!!! I love the bright, cheery colors and decided to use 3..... lime green, yellow and orange. Of course, WHITE has got to be in the mix too! I've never had a table runner for my dining/kitchen table, so I figured I needed to make one. I've had these fabrics around for quite some time! Atleast 8 years, if not more. Lime/white stripe and polka dot, yellow stripe and polka dot, orange polka dot and an orange blender....... My whole purpose in making this is to use up what I have and absolutely NOT buy any more fabric to finish this project! (OK, now that I've said that, I need to find something to put on the back of the runner......really want to put white on the back, but I don't have enough, so off to my 8-or-so tubs of fabric to find something! LOL!)

All I did was cut the 6 different fabrics into 6" squares. I only used 30 of the 36 squares that I cut. It took me a while to figure out how to lay them out, but finally got a good pattern. I used a 1/2" seam allowance when sewing them together. (I sewed one long strip of 15, ironed, then sewed the other strip of 15, ironed, then sewed the two long strips together). Here's how it turned out:

Fun and festive! Bright and cheery! Here's the vase that I made a couple of weeks ago that will go with my citrus tablescape:

{LOVE THAT WASHI TAPE!!!!}

Hancock has some canvas on sale this month, so I'm going to go see what they have and how I could paint some pretty placemats! Hey, I didn't say I wouldn't spend $$ on anything else, that was just my goal for the table runner! Hee Hee!

Y'all be sure to take a look around my blog..... I have other great DIY craft ideas, recipes, and you never know when I'll have a giveaway too!

Washi tape painted vase.......

I've got this idea in mind........

Cool citrus colors for my tablescape......orange, lime green and yellow. Oh, and of course, crisp white :)

I'm still mulling things over in my head and think I know where I'm going with this! LOL! I saw this little fluted fat vase today while looking under my kitchen sink and figured it would look super cute spray painted white. So, that's what I did!

Yep, 3 little things to make this vase super cute and citrus-y!

Just a little hint, make sure you get the good Krylon spray paint if you're going to paint on glass..... Ooopsie! While I managed to get the washi tape on pretty straight, when I tried to remove it a little, the paint came up. Oh well, guess this washi tape will stay on for a while...heehee!

I've already got a killer yellow and white table cloth that I bought at Target last year for $6.00! We'll have to see how this all comes together! Look for a reveal in about 2 weeks......gotta play this week since the kids are on Spring Break!
